Smurfit-Stone Container Corp., a global manufacturer of paper-based packaging and containerboard, intends to cease operations at the company's Braintree, MA sheet plant due to poor economic conditions and market pressures.

The plant, whose production capabilities reached 4-5 million-sq.-ft. of corrugated sheeting, will gradually transfer production to a nearby sheet plant over the next three months.
