Siam Pulp and Paper Plc, a Thai-based papermaker, reported an increase in its net profit for the second quarter 2001. The 14% hike over last year's second quarter 2000 results was largely attributed to higher domestic sales and lower costs.

Compared with the same period last year, wherein second quarter results reached Baht783 million, the company reaped a net profit of Baht894 million in 2001.
