The Shasta Paper mill, a specialties paper division of Plainwell Inc. that produces 450-tons/day of coated labels, printing papers and bleached packaging papers, shut down permanently on Aug. 20 of this year, after struggling with surging energy costs.
The Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical & Energy Workers Union (PACE) Local 8-1101 has filed a suit against the CA-based manufacturer for failing to give the 400 workers employed by the mill a 60-day termination notice.
