Paperboard Industries International (Paperboard), a leading manufacturer in North America and Europe of coated boxboard for folding carton and micro-flute packaging, reported a second quarter profit increase thanks to a recent acquisition and increased productivity at its European boxboard facilities.
Paperboard recorded profits of US$849,000, before taxes and unusual items, in the second quarter of 2001. The second quarter of 2001 also saw net sales peek at US$219 million, compared to US$198 million in the same quarter last year.
The company attributes the increased revenue and profitability to its recent acquisition of a folding carton plant in Western Canada, and improved productivity and margins at its European-based manufacturing sites.
