Oji Paper, Japan's second greatest board and paper manufacturer, announced plans to further extend the reorganization of its corrugated container operations. This effort, a response to Japan's current economic recession, will affect nine of the company's subsidiaries and cut the number of boxplants from 48 to 15.
Oji Paper anticipates major cost savings, as a result of the reorganization, by creating a smaller management structure and integrating resources. At the same time, Oji plans to boost production in central Japan, where demand for corrugated containers is highest.
