Maxcess International has appointed Ron Schmidt to director of corporate development in addition to the company's management board. His responsibilities will include organizing, leading and coordinating long-term strategic growth initiatives as well as assisting with acquisitions. Schmidt joined the subsidiary Fife Corp. in 1976. That company announced the promotion of Chuck Mutter to executive vice president, where he will be responsible for operations in Oklahoma City and Japan. Mutter joined Fife in 1969 and most recently served as its southeast regional sales manager. Temboard has named Stu Woodring to the position of national sales manager-linerboard (USA). The company also announced the appointment of Joe Harper to account manager for bleached coated linerboard products in the southeastern United States. David D. Waldschmidt has been named director of packaging systems for Green Bay Packaging Inc., succeeding Al Reynolds, who recently retired. Waldschmidt joined the company as a sales engineer in the packaging systems division in 1989, and he was recently awarded the honor of "Certified Packaging Professional: Lifetime Status" from the Institute of Packaging Professionals. Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. has announced a series of new managers for its containerboard mills. Del Brooks was named general manager of the Jacksonville, Florida, mill. He replaces John West, who is retiring after contributing almost 40 years to the paper industry. Brooks joined the company in 1977 and had been general manager of the Alton, Illinois, mill. Bob Lynch was named general manager of the Florence, South Carolina, mill. He takes over for Cecil Hamilton, who has retired after 48 years of service. Lynch joined the company in 1970, most recently as general manager for the Coshocton, Ohio, mill. He has been replaced there by Roger Hagan. Hagan has been with the company since 1977 and was previously general manager of the Circleville, Ohio, boxboard mill. Corrugated Replacements has named Linzie Oney as director of its rebuild division, responsible for in-house and on-site rebuilds and service work. Luke Travis has been appointed to the new position of director of corporate sales, which was created to address continued growth from the corporate level. Sara Long recently joined the company as director of international sales. Her primary function will be the service and maintenance of world wide sales. As a result of the company's European expansion, Nigel Algar has been appointed general manager of Kiwiplan Europe Ltd. He will be responsible for strategic planning and sales as well as staff development. David Coleman was named international technical executive. He will be managing the company's consultancy services and help define its technical direction. Christopher B. Steffen has joined Consolidated Papers Inc. He will serve as manufacturing engineer in the paperboard products division.
