A unique postal pack for videos, CDs, cassettes and other sensitive products has been developed by David S Smith Corrugated, Launceston, United Kingdom. The new package, for which a patent has been applied, is diecut from a single sheet of E- or B-flute corrugated, notched and creased. Folding takes place within the "blank size" area of the sheet so there is no wasted board. Because the product containment area has been designed with angled corners, it creates an auto-erect make-up of the package when the product is inserted. It is also designed to offer double protection for the product. A void is created at each end, which has the effect of creating doublewall, forming an impact-absorbing buffer zone. According to the company, the package is an ideal self-promotion vehicle with the total surface area available for graphics, which can be post printed, pre-printed, litho printed or silk screened.
