Tokyo, Japan Georgia-Pacific and Canfor Corp. have formed a joint marketing company for the sale and marketing of market pulp and other pulp and paper products in Japan.

Both companies have maintained separate sales offices in Japan for years. Through a jointly owned marketing company, the businesses will operate a single, combined office that will market and sell products from both companies under their well-known brand names. The new company will be set up as a joint venture under Canfor's existing corporate entity, Canfor Japan Corp., which will not be 50% owned by the two entities. The new company will be known as Canfor/Georgia-Pacific Japan Corp.

The new sales office is located in space now occupied by Georgia-Pacific in Tokyo. Current Georgia-Pacific and Canfor employees will staff the office.
