Positioning Unit The ELPOINT positioning aid unit for unwinders reportedly creates a precise alignment of paper rolls respective to the center of a corrugator. After pre-setting the working width, a deviating prism and adjusted spread laser indicates the ideal position on the front of the paper roll. This is said to provide optimum lamination accuracy with maximum stress-free web treatment. For more information, call (+49) 521-9-42-72-18.-Erhardt & Leimer

Video Mount The 18-in. video mount is designed to be a cost-effective route from the platemaker to the press, reportedly without sacrificing accuracy. According to the company, flexographic plates can be mounted with more speed and accuracy while tight register plates can be mounted quickly with improved quality of print and reduced downtime. For more information, call (847) 359-8988. -Propheteer International

Liquid Photopolymer Now available in North America, Acclaim(TM) is a clear photopolymer, which is said to be tack-free with 30% greater resiliency. According to the company, the plate's clear appearance is due to the elimination of blooming agents, which are additives introduced to remove tack. This reportedly results in a clear, shiny plate that ensures dense ink coverage, no loss of detail and deeper reverses while still rendering the plate tack-free and clean-running. The photopolymer works with the post-expose and detack systems used by sheet photopolymers, is designed to eliminate the need for new equipment, and uses a dry finishing process that reportedly eliminates the need for underwater post-expose. Acclaim is available in two durometers for complete ink coverage as well as process color and halftone screen work. For more information, call (404) 696-4565. -Polyfibron Technologies Inc.

Holographic Sheeter Converters and printers sheeting to a registration mark on pre-printed holographic stock can reportedly ensure cut accuracy and reduction of waste with this holographic sheeter. The manufacturer reports features such as a high resolution scanner to detect registration marks, a microprocessor controlled dual motor drive unit that holds the cut tolerance to within +/-0.008 in. of the register mark and automatic sheet. This sheeter is said to achieve pile quality with a splice detecting unit that recognizes the splice as a variation in the thickness of the web. A reject gate is utilized to divert the imperfect material out of the flow of the material to be stacked. For more information, call (401) 596-0162. -Maxson Automatic Machinery Co.

Ink System Cartoncure(R) is an ink system dedicated to free-radical UV flexo ink for printing over carton board on narrow web presses. According to the manufacturer, the system provides instant curing of inks with dramatically improved physical properties such as reduced viscosity and an anti-penetration component that reduces absorption to the board. The system is also said to entail printing, diecutting and creasing in-line on one press-immediate work-and-turn, a working capability in excess of 300 m/min., and an anti-static component that reduces dust attraction. For more information, call (+44) 161-775-7311.-Akzo Nobel Inks Ltd.

Viscosity Measurement Opti-Color introduces its falling ball for fully automatic viscosity measurement and control. The Multiplex FX control systems can reportedly operate up to eight sensors, each independently controlled and evaluated, resulting in compact design and a cost-effective system. It is also possible to generate a network of different control boxes to provide a central connection to other systems and computers. The data transfer between all units is done via a serial interface RS-232. The falling ball system measures viscosity values after an adjusted period, which avoids inaccuracies caused by turbulence in the medium being measured. For more information, call (704) 845-1540.-ADI International

Viscometer This enhanced digital viscometer is said to offer a continuous sensing instrument with temperature and viscosity measurement capability. The model DV-I+ features an optional RTD temperature probe that plugs into the viscometer and is displayed in units of degrees F or degrees C. The viscometer has a LCD that displays viscosity in cP, % torque, RPM and spindle number. The company reports viscosity accuracy +/-1% of range, repeatability +/-0.2% and accurate temperature +/-0.5 degrees C. For more information, call (508) 946-6200.-Brookfield Engineering Laboratories Inc.

Narrow Web Corona Treater The Uni-Dyne narrow web corona treater with self-contained, high-performance power supply and on-board density control is now available in corona discharge output from 1,000 to 5,000 watts and in treatment widths from 1 in. to 20 in. or more. The Uni-30, Uni-40 and Uni-50 offer features such as stepless output power control, output metering, operating status lights and terminals designed for quick, external connections. Stations are available for one- or two-sided treatment of conductive or non-conductive materials. They are also configurable as conventional, bare-roll or convertible designs. For more information, call (800) 423-0348. -Corotec Corp.

Flexographic Press Maflex SRL has announced its decision to expand its line of wide gap-access stack flexographic presses. The wider-than-standard spacing between the up and down side of the stack is said to be popular with operators as well as maintenance personnel. Maflex reportedly has more than a dozen installations of the wide gap presses in the United States to date. For more information, call (704)845-1540. -ADI International

Cylinder Storage Systems Specifically designed for hollow gravure cylinders, the CSH100 high density auto storage, management and handling system offers a sliding scale of automation options reportedly designed to improve the handling of any number of cylinders and to match available space. A control system is said to track and direct cylinder movement, manage data and export data to other in-house management systems. Cylinders are stored individually and can be retrieved via an aisle crane included with the system. An operator can enter a job at a terminal, and the required cylinders are prepared at an I/O or Storage/Retrieval station and moved by cart to the appropriate press. For more information, call (908) 689-5816.-Material Management Solutions Inc.

Label Application System The manufacturer has expanded its product line to include label application equipment. The Little David VersaLabel(TM) system is designed to accurately affix pre-printed labels directly onto boxes, pallets or products. The labels can reportedly be affixed either automatically or semi-automatically, depending on application requirements, in the size range of 1/4 in. to 5-3/8 in. widths and 1/4 in. to 8 in. lengths, although larger label sizes can also be accommodated. The system has been designed for heavy-duty industrial applications, although operation is easy due to a simplified label threading path and electronics included on a single circuit board. For more information, call (570) 937-4921. -Loveshaw

Conveyor System The Stedi-Stak conveyor system is said to transport stacks of corrugated without transitions or undulations by using individual overlapping conveyor sections with wide, rust-proof, heat-resistant belting. This provides a flat surface, which is designed to be unaffected by heat or moisture, resulting in a lower weight per unit area, while minimizing additional sheet damage up into the stack. The system reportedly does not require base sheets to provide additional box protection or as a transport media. The Stedi-Stak system can be integrated with the company's current line of accumulating and non-accumulating roller conveyors. For more information, call (317) 359-3858.-United Pentek
