Solvent

Want to zap away those accumulating ink stains on your rollers and plates? Introducing Ink Zapper, an economical and biobased alternative to petrochemical solvents. Made from corn and soybeans, Ink Zapper removes paper residues and lint, cleans pipe rollers without water, dissolves hardened and dried ink and strips plates without damaging images. According to the company, only 1/3 the amount of material is necessary to achieve better results, substantially reducing costs. For more information, call (309) 527-4224 e-mail vertecgold@aol.com. — Vertec BioSolvents

Scanning Densitometer

Introducing a two dimensional scanning densitometer designed for boxboard or label printers. The SXY scanning densitometer measures densities of special or process colors from colorbars, mini bars, micro patches, macro patterns or individual swatches. A hard copy printout provides a record of the scan. For more information, call (800) 426-4657 or e-mail sales@tobiasinc.com. — Tobias Associates, Inc.

Industrial Filters

A series of five high-ratio filters cover most every type of application, outdoors or indoors, in capacities from less than one hundred CFM to hundreds of thousands of CFM, using unsurpassed selection of filtering media. Features include large volume air tanks and high air inlets, to reduce reentrainment of dust on bags, durable and reversible access doors, wide exterior flages made of thick steel, ten durable vertical wires for maximum strength and alignment and tube collars crimped for an airtight seal. For more information, call (316) 744-7151 or go to www.kice.com. — Kice Industries, Inc.

Multi-Press Control

This system offers automatic control of viscosity and pH on any flexo press and can be set up to control more than one press. Using the company's Inkontrol® system, a PC is able to control the system rather than PLC or individual controls. The system can be set up for multiple press configuration in two ways: the viscosity and pH measuring units on each flexo press can be connected to one console, allowing operators to see all presses on one screen, or remote touch screen control panels can be stationed at each press for individual control. This configuration maximizes efficiency for specific plant requirements. For more information, call (751) 341-6501 or e-mail info@automatan.com. — Automatän, Inc.

Repulpable Coating

Offering an improved version of Santel 655, this water-based repulpable barrier coating was developed for paper and board packaging in addition to converting and printing applications. The coating allows paper and board manufacturers to manufacture a package with moisture, grease and oil barrier properties, while permitting the paper and board to be completely repulpable in normal repulping systems. For more information, call (201) 767-6040 or e-mail sales@admtronics.com. — ADM Tronics Unlimited, Inc.

Spanner Module

Providing a means to route data between two PLC's using DeviceNet, the FDN-DN1 Spanner module eliminates the need for a high-level control system by connecting the networks directly. According to the manufacturer, this approach is simple, powerful and economical by connecting work cells with conveyors. For more information, call (763) 694-2332 or e-mail mail@interlinkbt.com. — InterlinkBT, LLC

Chucks

The pneumatic high torque chuck for the converting and packaging industries incorporates advanced technological capabilities including hardened jaws that concentrically expand, spring return cams and centering cones for easy insertion. Made to fit your spindle in any diameter, size and configuration, the chucks are for applications requiring unwind and rewind chucks. For more information, call (973) 328-1850 or e-mail info@convertechinc.com. — Convertech Inc.

Roll Handling System

Manufactured for high speed corrugators, this roll handling system offers a roll preparation station, mobile platforms, turntables, rewinder with taping device, high speed transfer car with clamping device for the roll, lateral movement for paper roll positioning and automatic loading of rolls onto the roll stand. For more information, call (704) 321-2310 or e-mail ducker02@aol.com. — Dücker Automation

Digital Case Printer

Ideal for low volume, short-run operations, the EC-3200 digital case printer has been redesigned to be economical and virtually maintenance free. The EC model prints full graphics, in-spec bar codes and human readable text. Printing on knock down RSC's, trays, die cut blanks or multo-wall kraft bags are some of the capacities of this multi-purpose machine. For more information, call (312) 850-4273 or go to www.iconotech.com. — Iconotech

Safety Chuck

Available in tilting or sliding models, these safety chucks offer savings by featuring jaws which can be replaced at a lower cost than purchasing a new chuck. Sliding models utilize a patented push-button release mechanism to ensure worker safety, shaft stability and disengagement ease. Both sliding and tilting models can be flange-mounted or pedestal-mounted, fixed or with sidelay adjustment. Chucks can be supplied with square, diamond, triangle or circular engagements depending on application. For more information, call (508) 588-8099 or e-mail doublee@doubleeusa.com. — Double E Co., Inc.

Printing Plate

Encore, the new, uncapped, photopolymer printing plate, offers improved print quality, versatility and graphic reproduction. Key advantages include rapid drying times, shorter detack times, low dot gain, performance on a wide variety of substrates, including folding carton, and is compatible with point light imaging systems. For more information, call (800) 348-7201 or go to www.macdermid.com. — MacDermid Graphic Arts

Troubleshooting Guide

Three new pressroom troubleshooting guides provide technical assistance for correcting all types of printing problems that may arise during production. The guides use photographs to illustrate each problem, while allowing for a simple method to identify and solve common problems printers might encounter in the printing process.

The Paper Packaging, Energy Curable Inks and Energy Curable Coatings come in a pocket-sized booklet with hanging hole or as a large, easy to read wall poster. Additional guides for flexo and gravure package printing will be available in early 2002. For more information, call (708) 562-0550 or go to www.sunchemicallink.com. — Sun Chemical

Vacuum Pump

Designed especially for industrial processes that require large flows and deep vacuum levels, the classic MP pump is reported to be easy to control, energy saving, reliable and practically maintenance free. The pump can be used in manufacturing, packaging, automation processes and also for individual applications in the graphic arts industry. A compressed air valve is installed in the pump to reduce energy consumption and automatically shuts off the pump when the correct vacuum level is attained. The pump also restarts itself when the level drops. For more information, call +46 8 630 25 88 or e-mail ns@piab.se. — PIAB AB

Swivel Fittings

A line of 360° swivel fittings are available in brass, nickel-plated brass or stainless steel. Offering design engineers easy access in tight spots, the fittings come in straight connectors, elbows and tees.
