Hertfordshire, United Kingdom According to a recent study executed by U.K.-based Davies Industrial Supplies, the United Kingdom is the fourth largest producer of corrugated in Europe turning out some two million tons of the packaging material per year. The U.K. market is also one of the most concentrated in Europe, with its top 10 producers accounting for 85% of total output, said Davies. The study also shows the demand for corrugated material is expected to grow at about 2% to 2.5% over the next few years, with the highest growth forecast in industrial sectors, beverages and packaged foods. To serve this market, the company has created a double-sided splicing tape, tesa 4968, and a high-performance splicing tape for carrying out flying splice operations on corrugators, the tesa 53043. Tesa 4986 is a tape designed with high-holding power at high-web tension and at temperatures of as much as 200 degree C. According to Davies Industrial, tesa 4986 is especially useful for flying splices on slower corrugators where extended time on the preheating rollers is normal.
