He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a past president of the Paper and Forest Products Analysts Group of New York. Among U.S. paper and forest products analysts, Dillon is currently ranked first in all three major polls and surveys, including the 1997 Greenwich Associates survey, the 1997 Institutional Investor poll and the 1997 Wall Street Journal survey of "stockpickers". He currently lives in Summit, New Jersey, with his wife and five children.
