A Communication from the Corrugated Containers Division of TAPPI
Tappi Highlights
Corrugating International Joins Boxboard Containers International
Beginning in October 2001, Corrugating International will become associated with Boxboard Containers International (BCI). Corrugating International will be mailed twice a year, usually in October and April (coinciding with TAPPI's corrugated containers division's fall and spring conferences). Corrugating International will be mailed to all BCI subscribers. In addition, the BCI subscribers list will be expanded for these two issues to include Corrugating International subscribers not already a part of the BCI subscribers list. The partnership also includes the bi-monthly publication, “Out of the Box”, TAPPI's corrugated containers division news and information, in a special section of BCI.
Dave Carlson, technical editor of Corrugating International, reports that the editorial content of Corrugating International will remain independent. Corrugating International will include its own cover and the Production Roundtable and other features that Corrugating International readers look forward to seeing. Corrugating International will also contribute articles to BCI for publication in months when Corrugating International is not mailed out with BCI. The contributed articles will be clearly identified as to their TAPPI origin.
Carlson said, “This is an outstanding opportunity to expand Corrugating International's readership while continuing to bring practical, timely and immediately applicable information to corrugated professionals worldwide. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship between TAPPI's corrugated containers division and BCI.”
From the Chairman
Welcome to the beginning of our joint venture with BCI (BCI). Starting with this issue of BCI, you will see regular division news, “Out of the Box”, during the year, and in two issues we will publish Corrugating International. These issues with Corrugating International will be in conjunction with our two division meetings in the spring and the fall, and will be distributed to all of Boxboard's subscribers in addition to our division members and prospects. I think that we owe a great deal of thanks to the members of the Corrugated Division Council, as well as Dave Carlson and Mary Beth Bennett for making this new venture a reality.
Our new association with BCI certainly has the potential to transform and increase the effectiveness of our communications to our members and potential members, as well as others who cannot be as active as they might wish. This new phase of communications offers us a much broader circulation than what we were able to achieve with Corrugating International alone. Additionally, the corrugated containers division of TAPPI has the opportunity to maintain its identity, while increasing the potential technical information and communications that we disseminate to our industry.
I hope that you enjoy this new format and association with Boxboard, and I look forward to seeing you in Seattle for what promises to be an event you will not want to miss. We kick off the Seattle conference with Steve Rogel, chairman and CEO of Weyerhaeuser, as the Monday morning keynote speaker. Both a Converters Only and an open Production Roundtable will be offered this year. We have an interesting line-up of workshops and What's New sessions. CorrExpo® will run October 15 to 17, 2001, and will include the best of our Exhibit Floor Training Sessions. The TAPPI short course, Improving Graphics and Converting Operations, will also be offered October 11 to 13, 2001.
See you in Seattle!
Jim Euson, chairman, corrugated containers division of TAPPI
