Baltimore, Maryland At a ribbon-cutting ceremony last month, BHS Corrugated celebrated the opening of its new 30,000-sq.-ft. parts and service support facility in Baltimore, Maryland. Lars Engel, managing director of Roda and assistant to the chairman of BHS, and Edmund Bradatch, managing director and president of BHS, cut the ceremonial ribbon, signifying the opening of the new facility. More than 50 guests, which included customers and representatives from BHS in Germany, were invited to tour the facility. Bradatch and vice president of marketing, Chris Krumm, outlined the company's current capabilities in providing complete corrugators to the industry, as well as insight into future plans. At one point in the proceedings a live satellite feed was established with a Model Box plant in Switzerland, which allowed visitors to watch a BHS complete corrugator run at speeds of up to 400 meters per minute. An executive from the Swiss facility expressed his happiness with the fact that board from the BHS machine was saleable from the very first day of production. Bradatch took the opportunity to discuss several future developments BHS plans to introduce to the marketplace such as a wider, 118-in. corrugator; the BHS Synchro Board, a flute-to-flute formation that offers greater strength than standard flute configurations using approximately 10% less fibre; and a new split-belt corrugator.
