Average Buyer Takes at Least 12 Minutes Before Purchase

B2B News

According to Amy Africa, president of Creative Results, the quality of a company's Internet home page, shopping cart, navigation and search engines will make or break a website.

Creative Results' b-to-b survey reported that 80% of b-to-b website purchases are conducted after a buyer has spent at least 12 minutes on a site, which makes it all the more important for marketers to encourage long visits. Africa also recommends implementing an e-mail program to encourage repeat visits into any web strategy. Source article from BtoBonline.com provided by ForestExpress.

Corporate Changes

PaperExchange is no more PaperExchage's state-of the-art technology and applications are in new hands. HIT International Trading AG (HIT), central Europe's largest paper trading company, is the proud new owner of PEx's highly sought-after technology. HIT, together with its IT partner PaperSpace, will synergistically meld their respective expertise to not only harness the supply and demand between mills and customers, but will complete the picture with logistics and fulfillment service for an e-trading experience that's better. What more could you ask for from a partnership based on solid, proven technology? Their motto is, “We're here to drive your global e-trading business to a new level of service and opportunities”. For more information on this, go to www.PaperSpace.com and www.HIT-AG.de.

New Websites

A new corporate website was unveiled by printCafe, offering improved design and navigation as well as enriched support for printCafe's printer and print buying customers.

The primary goal of the redesign was to enhance product and company information on the heels of printCafe's six acquisitions in the last 18 months. Each of the acquired companies previously had individual sites featuring an extensive amount of product information. The new site integrates what was formerly several unique websites into one uniform presentation. For more information, go to www.printcafe.com.

In addition to the new website, printCafe also announced that General Motors signed on the printCafe's Print Procurement System — one of several major corporations that are implementing web-based print buying as a part of their corporate strategy.

New Features

Air Products and Chemicals has upgraded its extranet applications — Air Products Direct (APDirect), located at www.airproducts.com — to enable registered users to access certificates of analysis for select chemicals and specialty gases online. The company's APDirect portal offers existing U.S. gas and chemical customers, suppliers and partners a secure, convenient, easy to see e-channel for placing product orders, checking order status, tracking shipments, via direct link to carrier websites, ordering chemical samples and accessing information such as MSDS's, safetygrams and technical data. Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. is a combined chemicals and industrial gases company and works in many industrial markets, including adhesives and coatings and process chemicals.

Seton Identification Products has created the Compliance Resource Center at www.seton.com. This site provides timely regulatory information and products needed for a safe and compliant workplace. This site features the following: Federal Regulations and Product Match, Daily Federal Register, MSDS Online Library, Compliance Checklists, Interactive Tools, Training and OSHA State Links and Regulations. The Seton site also has the capability of letting you design your own custom worded OSHA or ANSI signs.

Graphic arts companies searching for used equipment to meet their plant needs now have access to the largest Internet repository available, the Used Equipment Exchange. It is found through the Printing Industries of America's (PIA) portal, www.gain.net. The Exchange was created by PIA through a partnership with The Printers Xchange, Incorporated, or TPX, with offices in Atlanta, GA and Manchester, U.K.

A new interactive on-line catalog, added to the Flexco Website, www.flexco.com, brings worldwide Internet convenience to the selection and ordering of mechanical fastener, tools, accessories and supplies for belt-conveyor maintenance. Viewers can pan across continually updated catalog information, gather selected items, choose a local distributor and send their request for a quote (RFQ) to that distributor via e-mail or fax.
