Barco-Artios has selected the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF) to receive "a perpetual and unlimited use license" for all modules of Artios CAD software. The license will allow the ICPF to distribute the Artios CAD software to any accredited university, college or trade school that offers a packaging curriculum. The company will also provide up to four Kongsberg sample tables per year (one per quarter) at cost to the ICPF for installations at the schools selected to receive the CAD software. The tables will be maintained free of charge by Barco-Artios as long as they are used as part of an established packaging curriculum. The program will be administered by the ICPF. Any accredited institution that wishes to be considered will need to apply directly to the association. "We are delighted to have this opportunity of working with Barco-Artios to bring needed CAD software and sample table technology to schools in the United States and Canada," ICPF president Robin Jackson said in making the announcement. "A key consideration in the selection will be the strength of the school's corrugated curriculum." Details of the program will be formalized between Barco-Artios and the ICPF over the next several weeks, according to Dale Quayle, senior vice president of worldwide sales, who proposed and secured the grant for the ICPF. "This program will make it simpler for any accredited packaging school to expand its curriculum with Barco-Artios CAD/CAM systems," said Quayle.
